You don't want your toes or heels to excessively hang over the edges when you are ripping downhill. If you find that they do hang over, additional drag will be in place making it more difficult to control the snow board at high speed. Should you have larger feet you will need a wider board.

The material that makes up the core of the snowboard can also vary depending on how much money you are going to spend. The inexpensive models may be constructed of a composite material, not like the more expensive wood offerings. Wood is thought to be a great core for beginners as it is durable and can hold up to alot of abuse. You may find a cheaper snowboard that is made up of the material you are looking for, but it could take some research and comparison shopping.
